Noem is alleged to have engaged in a conflict of interest after meeting with the head of the state agency that oversees appraiser certifications after it allegedly denied her then 26-year-old daughter Kassidy Peters’ application to become a certified real estate appraiser. The Associated Press reported that Peters got her certification in November 2020, four months after Noem’s meeting with agency head Sherry Bren and South Dakota Labor Secretary Marcia Hultman, which was also attended by her daughter....

Driscoll testified for several hours Tuesday and the hearing continued Wednesday in Dover, Del. The Associated Press reported Wednesday that Busch was called to testify just before the lunch break. Busch, the 2004 Cup champion currently driving for Stewart-Haas Racing, could have exercised his right to not testify about an alleged Sept. 26 assault, according to the wire service. He opted to testify and denied choking Driscoll, according to tweet from WBOC reporter Mike Chesney....

Prosecutors had accused Rittenhouse, charged with killing two people and seriously injuring another during Black Lives Matter protests in Kenosha in August 2020, of violating his bail conditions after it emerged he moved out of his home in Antioch, Illinois, to a new undisclosed location. Lawyers for the 18-year-old defendant have argued that the case should be dismissed because the prosecution presented them with inferior quality drone footage before showing the jury a high-resolution version during closing arguments. Defense attorney Corey Chirafisi called for a mistrial without prejudice, meaning Rittenhouse could be retried, after alleging the prosecution deliberately withheld the higher-quality footage. “The idea that the state would provide lesser quality footage and then use that footage as a linchpin in their case and it is the very reason they requested and were granted the provocation instruction by the court,” Rittenhouse’s defense team wrote, while filing for a mistrial....

Kenosha County Circuit Judge Bruce Schroeder called for a brief recess on the trial’s eighth day after Rittenhouse broke down while recounting what happened on the evening of August 25, 2020.
