Carol Kirkwood, a BBC Breakfast weather presenter, was kneeling down beside a Labrador guide dog called Flash, at the Chelsea Flower Show, after she gave a weather forecast for the event. The show was postponed from May this year due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Introducing the Labrador to viewers, Kirkwood said:“Now, she’s a friend of the program. She was actually on the program on April 28 with her trainer, Mel, and she took a little bit of a nibble out of Mel’s hand when she was only 18 weeks old....

Kenneth Funk was 56 when he died on June 16, 2004, having suffered a suspected heart attack while saving his wife, Annette. His body was never recovered. Funk’s family has now told Las Vegas news station KLAS that the remains found near Swim Beach at Lake Mead in July could be that of their husband and father. Lake Mead, the largest reservoir in the United States by maximum capacity, was formed by the Hoover Dam blocking the Colorado river and spans the Nevada/Arizona border....

The second largest reservoir in the U.S. by total capacity after Lake Mead, Lake Powell spans the Utah/Arizona border, and is an artificial lake created from damming the Colorado River. The water levels in Lake Powell are dramatically lower than they were in 2021, which in turn were lower than they were in 2020. As of August 10, water levels were measured to be 3,534.51 feet above sea level. At full pool, Powell’s water line lies 3,700 feet above sea level, and at 3,370 feet, it will reach deadpool levels....

The Ravens trading up to the last pick of the first round in last month’s draft and selecting Lamar Jackson has created excitement for the fan base of a team that fielded the NFL’s 29th ranked passing offense last season. One person who apparently is not excited about the 2016 Heisman Trophy winner coming aboard is incumbent starter Joe Flacco. And understandably so. In answering a simple question of whether he had spoken to Flacco as of last week and saying no, Jackson opened the social-media floodgates to speculation that the veteran QB had his nose out of joint....

Having completed his 10-day quarantine earlier in the week after testing positive for coronavirus on November 26, Jackson completed 12 of his 17 passes for a modest 107 passing yards, two touchdowns and one interception. He also rushed for 94 yards over 13 carries, which included a 37-yard touchdown run in the first quarter which put the Ravens ahead 7-3. The 37-yard scamper was Jackson’s longest run of the game and it came at a very opportune time as the Ravens quarterback had thrown an interception in the previous drive....
