According to Tweets from Les Bowen of Philly.com, McCoy said he was upset with the service he received at the eatery, but declined to elaborate further.

This all seems like a bit of personal preference and culture. Depending on who you ask, tipping is required or in some cases, not guaranteed if service is indeed terrible.

It’s an argument that will continue long after McCoy’s little dust up. Unfortunately for the Eagles RB, being in a position of extreme public awareness probably limits him from doing this kind of thing.

So, too, does the existence of uppity restaurants who feel the need to point out a bad tipper just because of their fame.

The owner of the restaurant posted to Facebook after the story went national defending his choice to call out McCoy on social media.

In any case, McCoy’s small gratuity won’t likely be the subject of media attention again. I would also venture a guess that McCoy’s patronage at that particular restaurant is likely over.
