Last Monday, McCoy dodged charges for allegedly punching and attacking two off-duty police officers with three other men after the Philadelphia district attorney’s office cited “insufficient evidence.” The results of the nine-week investigation that included 44 interviews with 27 people were harshly criticized by the Philadelphia police union chief, who said “a season-ticket hunting District Attorney refuses to do his sworn job and prosecute the attackers.”
The alleged incident, a portion of which was caught on camera, took place at the Recess Lounge in Philadelphia at approximately 2:45 a.m. ET on Feb. 7. Per the police report, Tamarcus Porter, a member of McCoy’s group, confronted one of the off-duty officers and grabbed a champagne bottle out of his hands. A skirmish then took place that resulted in an officer being punched, kicked and stomped.

One of the officers was treated at a local hospital for a laceration to his right eye, broken nose, broken ribs and a sprained thumb, according to the police report. The other officer received eight stitches over his left eye and received treatment for a possible skull fracture.
McCoy, who turns 28 in July, led the Bills in rushing last season with 895 yards.
