The plot summary for the new “Space Jam” movie was released Monday as part of a tie-in with Microsoft and Xbox. In the original movie, Michael Jordan and Bugs Bunny had to fight off aliens. In the new one, James gets stuck in a digital space and essentially has to beat a computer game.

The new movie is promoting a tie-in with Microsoft and Xbox which allows fans to submit their own ideas for a “Space Jam: A New Legacy” video game. Two winning ideas will be picked for creation into aracde-style games.
Reports from 2019 pointed to some of the computerized stars who James will have to hoop against. The list includes James’ Lakers teammate Anthony Davis, along with Chris Paul, Klay Thompson, Damian Lillard and Diana Taurasi. Considering that Thompson and Lillard already shoot like they’re playing a video game, it’s scary to think how well they’ll shoot in a movie plot that amounts to beating an actual video game.
“Space Jam: A New Legacy” is scheduled to be released on July 16, 2021, both in theaters and on HBO Max in the United States by Warner Bros. Pictures.
