To the surprise of some, LeBron James, who could win three straight MVPs, is not so invested in the race that has occupied others.

James is still having a solid season, to say the least, with averages of 26.0 points, 6.9 rebounds and 6.5 assists. The Miami Heat have had a mediocre January, even though James is still performing to his lofty standards.
While James has maintained his standards, though, Durant is playing a level he hadn't previously reached. He's averaging 36.9 points, 6.2 rebounds and 6.1 assists as he has taken on more responsibility in the absence of Russell Westbrook.
