Facing a three-point deficit with only five seconds to play Monday night against the Chargers, the Steelers had to make a call at the 1-yard line: kick the field goal and head to overtime, or go for the end zone. Pittsburgh lined up in the Wildcat — a formation the boys in black and gold utilized throughout the game — and gave the ball directly to Le’Veon Bell, who stretched just enough to give the Steelers a 24-20 walkoff win.

How close was Bell to being down?

It made sense to give Bell the ball, but putting him so far away from the goal line to start the play was questionable to say the least. But Mike Tomlin and company don’t care much now. They are heading home 3-2, while San Diego drops to 2-3.

Football. A game of inches, right?
