Bad Bunny led the nominations with 10 in the lead-up to the ceremony. Karol G, however, ended up winning the most awards with six, including her first win for artist of the year.
Karol G also took home awards for favorite female artist, album of the year, favorite urban artist, favorite urban album and collaboration of the year for “El Makinon,” her duet with Mariah Angeliq. Bad Bunny, meanwhile, won Latin AMAs for song of the year, favorite male artist, favorite urban song, favorite tropical song, viral song of the year.
Also among the winners were Aventura, who were named best group, Selena Gomez (favorite pop artist) and Maria Becerra. As for the special honors, Lupita D’Alessio was given the legend award, while Christina Nodal won extraordinary evolution.
Both Nodal and D’Alession performed medleys of their hits at this year’s Latin American Music Awards. Other performances included an all-star bilingual team-up performance of “Where Is the Love” led by the Black Eyed Peas. Performing alongside them were dozens of Latin artists, as well as Ukrainian singer NK.
