Authorities confirmed that two people have died, while six others were injured, and three of them are in a critical condition.

The Las Vegas Review-Journal reporter James Schaeffer shared the footage to his Twitter page and explained the brief clip.

“LVMPD provided video of what they say is the fatal stabbing suspect fleeing on Las Vegas Boulevard, Thursday,” he captioned the video.

“The video shows a highlighted circle around the suspect.”

Authorities were also able to confirm that the suspect has since been arrested and is in police custody.

Other videos have begun circulating on social media that show the aftermath of the incident.

Footage posted by the Twitter page KSNV News 3 Las Vegas and accredited to Pierre Fandrich, showed first responders on the scene.

In the video, that has been viewed more than 130,000 times, medical staff appear to be helping one of the victims.

In another clip, also filmed by tourist Pierre Fandrich, the first responders can be seen leading a victim away toward an ambulance.

Following the incident, the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department held a press conference to update the public.

“I am here to brief you on a murder investigation that has multiple victims, two of those victims are deceased as I speak,” Deputy Chief James LaRochelle said.

“There are six additional victims who have been stabbed.

“The location of this incident is on the east side of Las Vegas boulevard, the 3100 block on the sidewalk area.”

He continued: “The initial altercation, the initial stabbing occurs on the sidewalk area, It appears unprovoked, there is no altercation beforehand.

“That stabbing occurs quickly and the suspect subsequently goes southbound on the sidewalk area and stabs additional victims.

“Five victims there and then there was additional victims on the south side of sands also, so a total of eight victims.”

The Clark County coroner’s office identified the victims who were killed as Brent Allan Hallett, 47, and Maris Mareen Digiovanni, 30, both Las Vegas residents, according to an Associated Press report.

Speaking about the suspect, LaRochelle added that not long after attempting to flee he was apprehended. A large knife with a long blade was also recovered by authorities.

There were no other suspects in the case and “the Strip is secure,” Clark County Sheriff Joe Lombardo said.
