Twenty million people have voted so far, and a panel of world-renowned architecture experts recently whittled down the top vote getters to 21 finalists. Unlike Philon’s picks, the finalists include candidates both ancient (Machu Picchu, Great Wall of China, Taj Mahal) and modern (Statue of Liberty, Eiffel Tower, Kremlin). The winning sites will be announced in a live worldwide broadcast on July 7, 2007–that’s 7/7/07 if you missed it. No word yet on whether Simon Cowell will be producing.
