In Season 3, Emily is learning to deal with the consequences of her actions in both her personal and professional life, whilst learning a whole bunch of lessons along the way.
If Emily is not throwing herself into work, including helping launch the French McBaguette for McDonald’s, you will find her sipping Kir Royale’s with Luc and Julien by the Ferris wheel at the Place de la Concorde.
As they sip their drinks, Luc describes how the cocktail is the “perfect drink to sip and do nothing as the Ferris wheel turns.”
In fact, Emily is such a fan of the Kir Royale, she pitches to Camille’s vineyard-owning parents to sell the Kir Royale in a cocktail can called the Chamère.
Unfortunately, the Chamère is not real but the Kir Royale cocktail and bottled versions of the Kir Royale well and truly exist in France.
The Kir Royale has been popular in France since the 1840s, following the development of Créme de Cassis. The cocktail takes its name from the mayor of Dijon in Burgundy, Félix Kir, who served the drink to guests in the aftermath of World War II at his lavish gatherings.
Emily in Paris fans have been loving its inclusion in the new series.
One Emily in Paris fan joked the Kir Royale was the new Aperol Spritz, writing on Twitter: “Watch how Paris is going to be full of tourists drinking Kir Royale next summer. Aperol Spritz, out! I also suspect this ugly beret will be everywhere. And bring your Lysol wipes if you’re going to ride the Grande Roue #EmilyInParis3.”
Another fan joked the Kir Royale was another reason why audiences should watch Emily in Paris, adding it was their “absolute favorite cocktail.”
Others were defending the classic French cocktail, stating they had always been a fan, long before Emily in Paris.
One person tweeted: “future note to self: I liked kir royale before Emily in Paris made it popular.”
A second wrote: “Can’t believe #EmilyInParis is about to make a Kir Royale mainstream now. "
Hilariously, some fans have been copying House of Dragon star Emma D’Arcy’s iconic “Negroni Sbagliato” moment which went viral earlier this year.
In the interview, D’Arcy’s co-star, Olivia Cooke, asked “What’s your drink of choice?” to which D’Arcy replied “A Negroni.” They then added a long pause before continuing: “Sbagliato. With prosecco in it.”
One fan tweeted: “What’s your drink of choice?
“Me. A Kir, Royale. With Creme de Cassis in it.”
How To Make The Kir Royale Cocktail
To make the Kir Royale cocktail, you will need a bottle of champagne (or dry sparkling wine) and blackcurrant liqueur, known as Crème de Cassis.
If you want to add a twist to your Kir Royale, swap out your Crème de Cassis for Crème de Framboise (raspberry flavor), Chambord, or even Crème de Pêche (peach flavor).
First, add 3 to 4 tablespoons of the liqueur to the bottom of the glass.
Then, top up your wine flute with your champagne or sparkling wine.
You can also add one or two raspberries if you want to make your Kir Royale extra fruity.
Once prepared, serve immediately.
Emily in Paris Season 3 is streaming on Netflix now.
