MORE: Dirty incidents, jerks give sports a bad name

A formal announcement is expected Monday. Collison, 29, pleaded guilty to a charge of misdemeanor battery related to a May 30 incident with his wife in their Granite Bay, Calif., home. He was sentenced to 20 days in jail and three years of informal probation, though the jail time can be served through an alternative sentencing program.

Collison, who averaged 14 points and 4.3 rebounds last season, won’t be eligible to return until Nov. 8, but will be allowed to participate in the preseason, according to the report.

He’ll lose approximately $380,000 in salary because of the suspension.
