The most recent reports indicate that he ranted at assistant coach Lawrence Frank before deciding to reassign him to filing daily reports. Keep in mind that Frank will file these reports without attending practices or games.
There was much interest in what direction these reports filed to Kidd would include. Too bad Kidd wasn't forthcoming about their contents when asked about them by reporters on Tuesday, according to the New York Post.
“Unfortunately, I haven’t read anything,” Kidd said of media reports on his relationship with Frank. “I’ve been focused on the game plan of playing Boston, and so unfortunately I can’t answer that question.
“I’ve been reading the reports [Frank is filing], and that’s as far as it’s going.”
So the reports remain just as mysterious as they were before ever being filed. Perhaps we'll get our hands on the full reports once day, or maybe they'll remain under wraps and become as anticipated as the Pentagon Papers.
GRANGER TIMETABLE
Danny Granger, who played only five games last season, could soon make his season debut for the Indiana Pacers.
While Granger sat out for the Pacers' big win over the Miami Heat on Tuesday, it is possible he will return Friday against the Charlotte Bobcats, according to Pacers.com.
Granger missed almost all of last season with a knee injury. He was set to make a return this year, but instead suffered a strained left calf and sat out almost two months.
“The knee is not an issue at all,” he said. “A week ago it was the calf, but the calf is pretty good now. I’m pretty much over that. Now, it’s just conditioning.”
The Pacers forward has practiced with the team since Dec. 7, and, as Pacers.com pointed out, coach Frank Vogel previously said Granger wouldn't return to full contact until he was pain free.
Granger hasn't played since injuring his calf on Oct. 18. He has has watched the rash of injuries throughout the league, though, a phenomenon that reminded him to take his time.
“It’s just one of those things you got to take in stride,” he said. “When I saw Derrick Rose, I said, ‘My situation could be a lot worse.’ When I look at what he’s going through after missing a year off, it’s just one of those things you got to fight back from.
“It’s been an aspect of I haven’t had to rush back, which can often times lead to more serious problems and what not. I really don’t have any pressure on me at this point.”
JACKSON SIGNS
The Los Angeles Clippers have signed veteran swingman Stephen Jackson.
The Clippers reached a deal late Tuesday night with Jackson, the 13-year NBA veteran. Los Angeles' lengthy East Coast road trip continues Wednesday in Boston.
The Clippers have lost J.J. Redick, Matt Barnes and Reggie Bullock to injuries in recent weeks, forcing the Pacific Division leaders to search for depth.
The 35-year-old Jackson spent last season with San Antonio, averaging 6.2 points and 2.8 rebounds. The Clippers are the eighth NBA team for the veteran, who won a title in 2003 with the Spurs.
Redick will be out for several more weeks with a broken bone in his hand, while the Clippers hope for a quicker return by Barnes (torn retina) or Bullock (ankle sprain).
BOBCATS MOVES
With injuries mounting at small forward, the Bobcats signed Chris Douglas-Roberts from the D-League's Texas Legends and waived forward James Southerland.
Details of the contract were not disclosed.
The Bobcats are dealing with injuries to small forwards Michael Kidd-Gilchrist and Jeffery Taylor.
Douglas-Roberts averaged 18.7 points, 4.3 rebounds and 2.8 assists in 34 minutes in six games for the Legends.
The 6-foot-7 Douglas-Roberts has played in 161 career games for the Nets, Bucks and Mavericks and averaged 7.5 points, 2.1 rebounds and 1.2 assists in 20.3 minutes. He's shot 44 percent from the field for his career and 83 percent from the free throw line.
Southerland signed with the Bobcats on Sept. 5. He has only played three minutes.
FORMER SUNS STAR ARRESTED
Phoenix Suns broadcaster Tom Chambers has apologized to the NBA team and its fans after being arrested on suspicion of DUI.
Scottsdale police say the 54-year-old Chambers, a former Suns star, was pulled over Saturday night after an officer saw a pickup truck weaving in a bicycle lane.
A police report says there were two opened bottles of beer inside the vehicle and Chambers refused to take a field sobriety test.
Police say Chambers consented to a blood draw, was booked and released pending the results.
Chambers was a four-time all-star forward in a 16-year career that ended in 1997. He played for the Suns from 1988-1993 and helped Phoenix reach the NBA Finals in 1993. He now works as a studio host for Suns' televised games.
Suns officials declined comment on the arrest.
