Over the weekend, some social media users wrote that the musician seemed to “struggle to figure out” the technical set-up at the Christmas event. Trump, whose father is former President Donald Trump, filmed himself cheering on his friend.

“Kid Rock’s taking over the DJ booth, folks,” a beaming Donald Trump Jr. says while looking into the camera. He then flips the focus to record Kid Rock tinkering with the controls.

The @PatriotTakes Twitter account shared the clip to social media along with the caption: “Don Jr. posted a video of Kid Rock ’taking over the DJ booth’ at his Christmas party and then continued streaming as Kid Rock struggled to figure out the DJ equipment.”

Soon, the video began to make the rounds on social media, where users poked fun at Kid Rock’s apparent struggle.

“He keeps licking his fingers like he’s using vinyl records [laughing emoji],” actor Devon Sawa tweeted.

“So many hilarious things. He’s literally learning to mix on the spot. Donald Jr goes ‘OHH’ at some point but nothing happened. Kid Rock scratches so hard his hat almost falls off,” wrote Prentice Penny, the showrunner of Insecure on HBO.

Other social media users similarly seemed to have fun roasting the rap-rocker.

“This seems like a scene right out of The Office,” @75toRupp wrote in a tweet.

“New DJ Struggle video just dropped. My favorite part is when he kept kicking his fingers to handle a controller,” @scrabblor tweeted.

“Yeah, come out! We got Kid Rock on the space bar!” Twitter user @cpdanforth quipped.

Earlier this year, Kid Rock unleashed his latest album, Bad Reputation, which features the fiery single “Don’t Tell Me How to Live.” He’d previously performed at a Trump rally ahead of the 2020 presidential election.

The 45th president eventually returned the favor, recording a video introduction to play ahead of one of Kid Rock’s shows last spring.

In the recording, Trump praised the musician, calling him “amazing” and “one of the greatest entertainers of our time.” He also lauded audience members as “the true backbone of our great country: Hardworking, god-fearing, rock ’n’ roll patriots.”
