Following the team’s 129-92 home loss to the Nuggets on Thursday, the Knicks finally fired coach David Fizdale after weeks of speculation about his job security, according to ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski. New York also dismissed assistant coach Keith Smart, per Wojnarowski. Fizdale finishes his tenure in New York with a 21-83 record and deserves a portion of the blame, but he is hardly the only reason why this organization is floundering with no direction....

Some within the New York organization are “uncomfortable with the idea of trading away significant assets for” the 26-year-old Pelicans star, according to a report from SNY, which cites unidentified league sources. The six-time All-Star told the Pelicans in late January he did not plan to re-sign when he could opt out of his contract after 2019-20 and asked the team to move him. New Orleans executive vice president David Griffin has begun listening to offers for Davis and is asking for an “All-Star player, a young player with All-Star potential and two first-round picks” in exchange for him, according to an earlier report from ESPN....

The police confirmed details from a report by TMZ. The LAPD confirmed that a construction worker found the knife at some point (they were not willing to say when). One theory is the knife was found during the demolition of the Rockingham home in 1998. The worker, whose name the police don’t know, then found an L.A. police officer — who worked in the traffic division and was off-duty at the time — on the street and told him what he had found....
