I will stay there for a week or less, doing some “Cultural Awareness Training” and then some digital battlefield software training. After this, I am headed for Ft. Hood, Texas, to draw equipment and weapons. I have been assigned to a “Mobile Transition Team”, meaning I will be living with and training an Iraqi Army Battalion, along with three other Americans....

Turkey last month signed a memorandum of understanding offering to send troops to back the embattled Government of National Accord as the rival forces of Libyan National Army leader Field Marshall Khalifa Haftar laid siege to Tripoli. Following an emergency gathering, the Council of Ministers “unanimously agreed” to accept the offer “for security and military cooperation” between the GNA and Turkey, according to the GNA. Stations such as the Qatar-based Al-Ahrar TV and Al Jazeera outlets as well as Saudi Arabia’s Al Arabiya first reported the news, citing sources within the GNA....

The movie won the top prize at the Cannes Film Festival in May. (It opens the New York Film Festival this Friday and will be in theaters Sept. 29.) But the film aroused violently conflicting passions in Cannes. It’s a love it or hate it movie. For some of us, however, it’s possible to love it and hate it. There is little argument about Bjork. She deservedly won the best-actress award at Cannes, but a Purple Heart might have been more appropriate....
But a big storyline at the end of the game was the status of Lightning star forward Nikita Kucherov, who left Monday night’s contest after taking a cross-check to the lower body from Avalanche defenseman Devon Toews. Late in Game 3, Toews appeared to use his stick and push down onto the back left hip/thigh area of Kucherov. The Tampa Bay winger was clearly in pain and after hobbling off the ice, he went down the tunnel and did not return....
